Three-phase direct-connected energy meter
The Eastron SDM72DR provides straightforward sub-metering for a three-phase circuit. It measures total active energy and instantaneous active power, while a separate resettable energy register makes it practical to track a defined period without losing the main cumulative reading. Direct connection supports loads up to 100 A without external current transformers.
Direct metering for a dedicated circuit
The meter is intended for 3 x 230/400 V AC three-phase systems and mounts on a standard DIN rail. Its four-module, 72 mm width suits distribution boards where a dedicated EV charging circuit, sub-distribution board or other three-phase load needs its own energy record.
A direct-connected meter carries the measured current through the device itself. This reduces component count compared with a current-transformer installation, but the circuit must remain within the meter's 100 A maximum rating and be designed and installed by a qualified professional.
Useful readings and verified accuracy
The LCD shows active energy in kWh and active power in watts. Class 1 active-energy accuracy and MID conformity make the model suitable where a formally specified energy meter is required, subject to the rules of the intended application.
The front is rated IP51 for indoor use. Protection class II insulation and the stated operating range support installation inside a suitable electrical enclosure; the meter itself is not an outdoor housing.
