Type 1 to Type 2 cable, flexible for winter use
This EV EXPERT cable connects a car with a Type 1 (J1772) inlet to a European AC charging station: the car-side plug is Type 1, while the station side is a Type 2 (Mennekes) connector to match home wall boxes and public posts. Type 1 is a single-phase standard found on a number of EVs and plug-in hybrids, particularly earlier and Asian-market models, and this cable is the link that lets them use Type 2 infrastructure.
Single-phase up to 7.4 kW
The cable is rated 32 A on a single phase at 240 V, for up to 7.4 kW — the practical ceiling of Type 1 charging, since the Type 1 standard is single-phase only. The rate you get is the lowest of the cable, the station and the car's onboard charger; where a car's single-phase intake is lower, it charges at that rate. The 5 m lead reaches easily from a post or wall box to the car.
Easy to handle, including in the cold
The sheath is more flexible than many comparable cables, which makes a real difference in winter, when stiff leads are awkward to coil and plug in. It is made of hard-wearing TPE-U, the connector housings are non-flammable thermoplastic resistant to scratches and knocks, and the connectors are rated for more than 10,000 mating cycles. Fitting the protective caps when the cable is unplugged keeps the contacts clean and prolongs its life.
Protection and standards
Plugged in, the connection is protected to IP44; with the caps fitted the disconnected connectors are rated IP54. The connectors conform to IEC 62196-2 (Type 2) and SAE J1772 (Type 1). As with any such rating, these cover everyday outdoor use rather than immersion.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the right cable for my car?
It is for cars whose charging inlet is Type 1 (J1772). If your car has a Type 2 inlet instead, you need a Type 2-to-Type 2 cable. Check which inlet your car has before choosing.
Why only single-phase / 7.4 kW?
The Type 1 standard is single-phase by design, so 7.4 kW (32 A at 240 V) is its practical maximum. Three-phase AC charging is only available through a Type 2 inlet.
